Web Workflow and Desktop Datafeed Systems |
Objective Our health care client used to handle customer paper documents (e.g., applications, claims, and correspondences etc.) manually by different functional groups of staff. To streamline its business process, they asked BluefinSoft to build a web workflow system in the most cost-effective manner and at the same time to build a desktop application to handle the datafeed for insured’s daily transaction from its customers.
Technical details Web workflow system: open source technologies J2EE, Java, Struts, Hibernate, Log4J, JavaMail, Apache web server, Tomcat, and Ant Desktop datafeed application: Visual Basic, FTP server, and Crystal Enterprise for reporting Database server: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Data processing: stored procedures, DTS packages, ETL, and SQL jobs
Our role The client had its written requirements specification. Our PM and team leader reviewed and refined the requirements with the client. Our team comprised of project manager, team leader, architect, developers, and quality engineers. The UI screens and system prototype were provided to the client for its approval at the beginning of system implementation. The development and testing work was done in China and design was made in US. The frequent incorporation of the client feedback was carried out by adopting RUP development process and our project/change control management standards.
